Local Missions and Community Outreach

FUN AND FREEDOM conducts, and participates in, various Local Missions and Community Outreach activities designed to positively impact youth as well as the communities in which they live.

International Missions

FUN AND FREEDOM has conducted three international mission trips. Mission teams were made up of adult leaders and junior and senior high school youth. Because sports have the unique ability to breakdown social, economic and cultural barriers - this creates an opportunity for our mission teams to travel and play internationally as well as open doors to provide humanitarian aid, promote good will and share our Christian faith. Trips of this magnitude also provide a forum to challenge the personal growth of each mission team member in such areas as: physical endurance, teamwork, responsibility, appreciation of diverse cultures and compassion for the less fortunate.

Team-Bahamas

•BAHAMAS 2008: This was a 7 day tour that took place in July 2008 on Long Island, Bahamas . Although Long Island is scenically beautiful, it is an area of the Bahamas that is more remote and is not a center for tourism. We conducted a week long Basketball Skills Instructional Camp as well as a Children’s Ministry which included fun games, crafts and teaching character building lessons.

Team Bolivia 2005•BOLIVIA 2005: This was an 11 day tour that took place in Santa Cruz, Bolivia in June 2005. We played basketball against Bolivian High School teams, neighborhood pick up teams and conducted Basketball Skills Instructional Clinics for Bolivian players and coaches. In addition to basketball our mission also included: a Children’s Ministry where we worked with children in school classrooms and in the streets and a Homeless Shelter Ministry where we served meals, bought and distributed food supplies, cooking utensils, tables and chairs, mattresses, clothing, shoes and toys.
